Is Our School Really as Safe as it Could Be?

There has been a lot of construction in our school lately during classes. The construction causes fumes to go into the school atmosphere. In a couple of classes people have had headaches or asthma attacks while the construction workers are drilling. The 7th graders wanted to go on strike because of these harsh conditions but most of them got in trouble because people told them not to wear a mask which is what they did to go on strike. They had their masks taken away and had to stop putting tape on their shirts of sayings of “Got Air? ‘Cause we don’t!” or “Where Did All the Air Go?” Students thought that it wasn’t fair that we couldn’t go on a silent strike.
I was all for the strike and felt that we didn’t make such a riot and there was no need to make us take our masks off or rip the tape of our shirts. I mean it’s not like anybody got hurt or anything. I would have totally been against the whole strike thing but that wasn’t the situation. The teachers looked at the strike at a different perspective then we did. During the time that we did strike, people never got hurt or anything.
I think the teachers could have handled it differently and not make such a big deal about it. Construction is still going on; we can’t do anything about it. Some of my teachers still get annoyed by the racket going on while classes are getting taught. Teachers get confused at themselves because they can’t teach their students. I just think that they could just do construction after school or on weekends, not during school.
Sorry if you get confused I accidentley posted the same article twice. Just to let you know!

Are People Taking Swine Flu too seriously?
People have been wondering why all of a sudden this flu came about and if there is any cause for it. Doctors haven’t come up with a cure yet but supposedly they think it’s the bird flu, pig flu, and human flu together. People have died from it in Mexico and that’s where it all started. The number of people in the United States has been increasing since this how tragedy started. People are taking this flu seriously, but why?
People don’t like the idea of doctors not knowing a cure because they never cared about this dangerous flu. When somebody coughs or sneezes people back away from them, walk away from them, or cover their mouths so they don’t inhale their germs even if they don’t have the flu. When people do that I think they then are taking it too seriously because its allergy season and people cough and sneeze. People now have started to wear masks over their faces that way they need to worry about getting sick.
I personally do think that doctors or scientists should have definitely looked into this type of flu. It wouldn’t have caused this much trouble and people wouldn’t die like every hour of the day in Mexico or, it gets that serious, the United States. I don’t at all have a problem with people wearing masks because it has become that serious. The thing I don’t agree with is that people make fun of other people because they coughed or sneezed when it’s not their fault.

Are you Against Cliques or for them?
You’ve seen them in schools, churches, movies, sports, and other places and things in the world. It is a disease that spreads throughout the world. People are being judged every minute of their life, but people have been judged on whom they hang out with and where they come from. The stereotypes can be cruel things to people and they have to live their whole life down if they’re being bullied all the time for being who you are.
I think people like the idea of cliques because you can be with a group of people who has the same interest as you. Although you can be with people you relate to, some cliques clash into fights and they become enemies. Some of those cliques involve ex-best friends and for each one of those best friends they lost a great friend and they regret it. It stinks to have a best friend when they all your secrets and they know all about you and it just fades away once you enter middle school or high school.
I am totally, 100% against them. I have all different kinds of friends, intelligent ones, quiet ones, loud ones, funny ones, outgoing ones, and without them I wouldn’t be who I am now. They bring something special out in me and make me become a better person. Cliques would just be plain boring because you wouldn’t get a better variety of people you could know and become great friends in the future.

Is it Better to Use Mechanical or Wooden Pencils?
This seems to be a crazy topic for an article but, I have always used both mechanical and wooden pencils, but I’m not which one I like best. Mechanical pencils are definitely more expensive these days but are the easier to use? I have been using wooden pencils lately because lead for the mechanical pencils is even more expensive these days. Also when I use wooden pencils, I personally get bumps on my fingers (don’t ask why). What I really want to know is which is better?
The great thing about having mechanical pencils is that you don’t have to worry about having to sharpen your pencils during classes and annoying teachers. All you have to do is push down on the eraser and write. The downfalls of those kinds of pencils is that you never know when the lead is going to last the day or not. When it does it might be in the middle of a big test or in the middle of taking tons of notes for a huge exam. Mechanical pencils are getting more and more expensive and the economy is getting worse and worse to the point where parents can’t afford getting school supplies for their kids.
On the other hand, you could still use old, classic wooden pencils which I have been using for the past school year. I feel that wooden pencils are easier to use. They cost $0.99 a box. Although I have used mechanical pencils throughout my life, this year I started to use wooden ones because I always run out of lead then I don’t have a pencil so it’s not a good situation to be in. The only bad thing about wooden pencils is that teachers have continuously told us to not sharpen our pencils in the middle of class but what if the tip of the pencil breaks, then what do you do?

A Restaurant Review- Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse
I went one night with my family to a steakhouse near Christiana Mall, in Newark, DE. It is located in a shopping center with varieties of stores. When you first walk in you are pretty much surrounded with fake animals and helpful hostesses. I did like a lot of the things there, but some of the things that came along with the package of going to the restaurant I didn’t like.
The things that I liked are that the waiters and waitresses had names that went along with the theme of the restaurant. (The theme was like a hunter in the forest theme with all animals you would see). I also though that the service was pretty quick and fast and that can help people who are on the go and only have a certain amount of time to eat. They are also appreciative of tips and money the restaurant receives from your order.
The things I didn’t like about the restaurant are that the food is really fatty and greasy, so if you wanted something healthy don’t go there. When you sit at a table you can feel forks and napkins and other unmentionables under the table. Sometimes there is sticky stuff under there. Bugaboo Creek’s prices are also very high priced and they give you little servings on the meals. You never know what you’re going to get. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone because there are so much more restaurants out there that is so much better.

Should Delaware Change the Driving Age?
Delaware’s driving age limit is 16, but are 16 year olds responsible enough to drive without getting them killed or injured? There has been talk throughout news stories and TV that the representatives of Delaware are thinking about changing the driving age to 18. Is this a good thing or not so good thing for teenagers? I have 2 opinions of this situation.
I agree with Delaware representatives if they change the driving age. I agree because most of the car accidents that have been happening involve first time drivers of teenagers. When they do get in car accidents, they usually injure themselves or their friends. Adults are getting really upset about has become of this driving rage and I’m kind of getting tired of it too. I don’t what to lose my friends when I get older and they’re killing themselves by not being responsible. Yes we all take driving tests but I don’t think that’s enough. Something needs to change around here and we need to do something fast.
I disagree with this situation too. I feel this way because teenagers need to make a living and need to be able to pay for college. So how are they going to do that without having a job? Parents can’t always take their sons and daughters to their jobs because they have other places to be, like their own job. I feel that we don’t have to change the driving age limit and just make sure kids score a higher score on the test to be able to drive.
People have their own opinions of this the driving age limit and I have shared mine. Now you decide! What do you think? Do you disagree or agree with this statement?

George Bush Reunites with His Family! People wonder why Bush has been such a downer lately and nobody knows why. He hasn't been spending much time with his relatives lately and that may be part of it. Well I have some exciting news for you! Bush was seen at his home in Texas taking a picture with a monkey. It was a very exhilarating experience for Bush. “I have invited them over to stay with me for awhile that way we can catch up on things. It’s been a long time since my kind and me have talked to each other and we want to get to know each other better.” I feel that they are going to live happily ever after if nothing goes wrong.
Later that day, I found out that the Bush family is moving to the Rain forest to live their family of monkeys. I also heard that Laura Bush is very unhappy about the situation, but is worth taking the risk. Their daughters are staying behind because they think their parents have lost it. We now have to say goodbye to George Bush forever… maybe.
